 | ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SUPERVISOR:
This course builds on the information provided in the 40-hour Asbestos
Abatement Worker course. Emphasis is placed on enhancing leadership and

ABATEMENT WORKER RECOMMENDED, NOT MANDATORY. PROPER ATTIRE

 | ASBESTOS ABATEMENT WORKER: This
40-hour course for asbestos abatement worker training has been approved in all
EPA Regions. The course focuses on the hazards of asbestos, the specific
procedures used on the job, and the legal rights of the workers. Participants
are actively involved in learning through group and “hands-on” exercises.
Information is provided on contracts, insurance and liability issues,
respirators and fit testing, record keeping, air monitoring and supervisory
techniques. PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED: WORK BOOTS, WORK
SHIRT AND WORK PANTS.

 | BLUE PRINT READING(HIGHWAY): This 24-hour course is designed
for the beginner. You will be introduced to simple structural drawings and
develop building and highway plan reading skills. Basic math skills will be
taught and emphasized. |

BLUE PRINT READING(BUILDING TRADES): This
40-hour course for residential and light commercial buildings is designed to
teach basic blueprint reading skills from the foundation to the roof. Students
will learn how to read plot plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and
detail plans. Terminology, abbreviations, and symbols will also be
taught. |
 | BRIDGE ZONE SAFETY: Emphasis is placed on bridge safety.

 | CONCRETE:
This 40-hour course
includes safety, preparation testing, placement and consolidation procedures.
Curing, stripping and clean-up will also be covered to properly assist
associated crafts. Students will have the opportunity to pour and finish a
wall and/or slab of concrete. PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED: WORK BOOTS,
WORK SHIRT AND WORK PANTS. |
 | CUTTING & BURNING: 24-hour course that covers the proper techniques
in oxygen-acetylene cutting of iron and steel. During this presentation, you
have an opportunity to set up cylinders, hook up regulators, and check for
cylinder leaks. Other materials used for this course are liquid oxygen and
propane. Plasma arc and lancing rod cutting are also covered.
PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED: WORK BOOTS, WORK SHIRT AND WORK

 | FIRST AID/ CPR/ AED: An 8-hour course.
Extensive hands-on training session
developed by the American Red Cross. Completion of the course meets OSHA
requirements and provides the worker with CPR and First Aid certification.
Topics include administering CPR, basic wound bandages, and use of the
automatic defibulator(AED). |
 | FLAGGER SAFETY: Safety information for flaggers is provided to
address an area where one-third of highway work zone workers suffer fatalities
each year. Proper positioning, use of personal protective equipment, flagging
techniques, and suggestions on dealing with the general public is covered in
this section. Information is based on well recognized information used in
approved flagger courses already utilized by the industry, and as presented in
Pennsylvania publication #408, Section 901.3(a).
CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED AS OF
1/1/03, WITH
RECERTIFICATION EVERY 3 YEARS. |
 | FORK LIFT AWARENESS: This 8-hour course reviews safety and
maintenance and provides refresher certification as required by OSHA.
PREREQUISITE: At least 3 years experience in fork lift
operation. |
 | FORK LIFT USER: This is a 24-hour course designed to give
hands-on instruction in operating the equipment. Students successfully
completing the course will earn certification, acknowledged by the Mason
Contractors Assoc. of America. In-depth instruction is given on OSHA
regulations, as well as: load limits, center of gravity, stability,
teeter-totter principle, job-site conditions, load balance, traveling with and
placing loads, inspection, and maintenance.

GLOBAL POSITIONING DEVICES(GPS):
40-hour course that combines classroom training and extensive hands-on field
exercises in the principals of operation, application, and measuring
techniques used in GPS systems and also C.O.G.O.(coordinate geometry) software
functions.
*Note: A passing grade of 80% on both exams and
hands-on exercises is needed to pass this class.
PREREQUISITES: 24-hour Line & Grade, 40-hour Line & Grade(advanced); 24-hour
Blueprint(Heavy/Highway) is also recommended.

 | HAZARD COMMUNICATION:
This 4-hour
course has been developed to assist Laborers’ to more fully understand the
requirements of the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. Completion of the
program is intended to supplement the training a contractor must provide the
worker on the job. |
 | HAZARDOUS WASTE WORKER COURSE:
This 80-hour course exceeds the minimum requirement (1910.120) of 40 hours of
initial off-site instruction for employees involved in hazardous waste
operations under CERCLA, RCRA, or state or local governments. Course content
covers legal rights, health effects, hazard recognition and site safety,
personal protective equipment, decontamination, site safety and health plans,
safe handling techniques, sampling and air monitoring techniques, and
community relations. Trainees are required to complete hands-on exercises on a
mock hazardous waste site. Also includes 8-hour confined space instruction.

 | LEAD ABATEMENT SUPERVISOR: This
course builds on the information proved in the Lead Abatement Worker course
and provides abatement supervisors with information on their responsibilities
during abatement projects. PREREQUISITE: 40-HOUR LEAD
ABATEMENT WORKER RECOMMENDED. PROPER ATTIRE

 | LEAD ABATEMENT WORKER: This
40-hour course will provide workers with information and abatements used to
safely remove or encapsulate various materials containing lead. Topics include
problems and possible solutions, current regulations, worker safety,
preparation, containment and clean-up of lead contaminated areas. About one
third of class time will include hands-on training.

 | LINE & GRADE: This comprehensive course is designed to provide the
skills for checking grade. Topics include: measurement systems, stationing,
slope expressions, construction referencing systems, slope staking, material
quantity calculations and others. This is the first of three required
courses that lead to becoming certified in GPS systems. PROPER ATTIRE
REQUIRED: WORK BOOTS, WORK SHIRT AND WORK PANTS. |

LINE & GRADE(ADVANCED): 40-hour in-depth course designed to further
the skills & knowledge learned in basice 24-hour Line & Grade. Topics covered
include stoking procedures, curb & gutters, and using construction
instruments(level & transmit) to perform field layout related to heavy &
highway. Students will be introduced to the advanced mathematic(geometry &
trigonometry) principals needed when performing field layout and their uses as
a basis in GPS training.
*Note: A passing grade of 80% is needed to
advance to the GPS class. PREREQUISITE:
24-hour Line & Grade; 24-hour Blueprint(Heavy/Highway) is also recommended.

MANLIFT:
Also known as "aerial lift", the trainee in this class receives
classroom instruction on safe use and ANSI/OSHA requirements to operate
equipment on the construction site, as well as hands-on training and pre-shift

 | MASON TENDING:
A 40-hour course
with emphasis on hands-on exercises has been developed. Course topics include
tools and equipment, mortar mixing and specifications, material estimating and
stocking, scaffolding and pertinent safety information. Also covers basic use
of builder’s levels and builder’s transit.

 | MICROBIAL REMEDIATION: This 24-hour course introduces trainees to
the emergency field of microbial remediation and includes lectures and
hands-on training. Microbial remediation is performed in buildings where
indoor air quality has been affected or where occupants are suffering from
potentially serious health effects of exposure to toxic microbes(e.g., mold,
mildew, bird/bat droppings, bacteria, and viruses).

OSHA CONSTRUCTION SAFETY & HEALTH:
This 10 or 32-hour course provides trainees
with information on the contents of the OSHA 1926 Code of Federal Regulation
standards to fulfill OSHA’s training requirements. The course is presented by
instructors who have completed the OSHA 500 training recognized by the OSHA
Training Institute. Trainees learn about the standards that should be adhered
to on construction sites and the issues in creating a safe and healthy work
environment. |
 | PERMIT-REQUIRED CONFINED SPACE:
This 16-hour course is designed for
workers who work in confined spaces. This course provides specific information
on hazards associated with confined spaces. Topics covered are entry
procedures, confined space permits, personal protective equipment, ventilation
and air monitoring procedures. Also covers information pertaining to permit
and non-permit required spaces. PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED:

 | PIPELAYING:
A 40-hour course designed to provide laborers
with the knowledge and hands-on experiences to become a skilled and productive
member of a pipe laying crew. The course includes general techniques, shoring,
line and grade, manholes and inverts, gravity flow systems and pressure pipe
systems. Includes laser certification.

 | POWDER-ACTUATED TOOLS: This 8-hour course provides an
overview of the types of powder actuated tools and safety precautions for
operators and co-workers. It includes hands-on training for basic operation.

 | RIGGING & SIGNALING:
16-hour
course in which students learn how to tie knots and hitches used in
construction activities. The safety hazards associated with ropes, cables,
slings, rigging hardware, lift capacities, load weights and sling angles are
discussed. Students also learn about the responsibilities of flaggers, as well
as the legal liabilities, traffic control principles, proper flagging signals,
job hazards, and PPE. PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED: WORK
BOOTS, WORK SHIRT AND WORK PANTS. |
 | RODTYING:
40-hour course that will
familiarize you with various types, shapes and diameters of reinforcing steel,
with the hand tools utilized for placement and securing. There will be special
emphasis placed on layout and framework of the projects that you will build.

SCAFFOLD BUILDING:
32-hour course that provides
basic techniques, rules and regulations on ladders and scaffolds. Also
included are the basic fundamentals and hands-on procedures for building
outside and inside corner, radius and incline scaffold.
PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED: WORK BOOTS, WORK SHIRT AND WORK PANTS. |
 | SCAFFOLD USER:
8-hour course that fulfills all OSHA scaffold training
requirements for 29 CFR 1926.454(a). Covers introduction to scaffolds,
summary of OSHA standards, general ladder requirements, fall protection,
electrical, and loading scaffolds. |
 | SKID STEER: This 16-hour course covers basic safety and
fundamentals of operating a skid steer and its attachments, including
inspection, maintenance, and lubrication. Extensive hands-on training is
covered as well, simulating job-like conditions such as: obstacle course,
moving planks, block and debris. PROPER ATTIRE

 | WORK ZONE SAFETY: This course covers the proper use of
control devices such as signs, channeling and lighting devices, the five parts
of a traffic zone, and definitions and diagrams. Emphasis is placed on the
causes of traffic and non traffic accidents. Includes flagging safety.
