WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA CONSTRUCTION CRAFT LABORERS’ APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
On – the – Job Training Apprentices are required to complete a minimum of 288 hours of classroom and hands-on training at the Western Pennsylvania Laborers' Education and Training Center in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. To complete the apprenticeship program, 4,000 hours of on-the-job training is also required. This includes general skills such as site and project preparation and maintenance; safety; tools, equipment, and material recognition; specific skills in environmental accreditation; building construction; and Heavy/Highway construction. Related training includes: Craft Orientation First Aid/CPR Asbestos Abatement Hazardous Waste Worker Lead Abatement Pipe laying Line and Grade Microbial Remediation Skid Steer O.S.H.A. Safety & Health Hazard Communication Blue Print Reading Concrete Rod Tying Scaffold Construction & Use Mason Tending Rigging & Signaling Air & Compaction Tools Flagger Safety Work Zone Safety Bridge Zone Safety Cutting & Burning Powder-Actuated Tools Confined Space Fork Lift Training

Apprentices In Action! Apprentices from the July-August program show off their handy-work at the Training Center. Working with concrete is but one of the many things this class has learned over the course of the two week training program. They are all looking forward to getting out in the field now to apply their skills and knowledge. Good luck to our newest brothers and sisters!
