APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION

This Apprenticeship Training Program is operated under the joint administration of the WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA LABORERS’ EDUCATION AND TRAINING TRUST FUND. These parties, under Section 302 of the Taft Hartley Act, have created the Laborers-AGC Education and Training Trust Fund. The programs of this Labor-Management Trust Fund are designed to enable Construction Craft Laborers to keep pace with the rapidly changing health and safety technical skills which are an integral part of the Construction and Environmental Industries. The specific training for which you are applying is the Building and Heavy and Highway Apprenticeship Program.

 

Applications for the Western Pennsylvania Construction Craft Laborers' Apprenticeship Program are accepted on a continuous basis and available at the following locations:

                Saxonburg, Butler County, Pa.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST:

1.     Complete a written application.

2.     Be 18 years of age or older when admitted.

3.     Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

4.     Have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation(Pennsylvania driver's license).

5.     Be a citizen of the United States or a legal alien.

6.     Have been a resident of one of the following counties for the past (6) months:

Bedford

Crawford

Indiana

Warren

Blair

Elk

Jefferson

Washington

7.     Take a written Selection Test. (The test will be administered at the Training Center in Saxonburg, PA.)

8.     Participate in an interview session. (Interviews will be at the Training Center in Saxonburg, PA.)

9.     Pass a certified drug test before final acceptance.

10.   Submit with the application a non-refundable processing fee of $25.00 in the form of a cashier's

        check or money order, made payable to:

        Western Pennsylvania Laborers’ Education & Training Trust Fund.

       PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

11.   Be in good health, or be able to pass a pre-job physical should one be required.

12.   Mail the application and processing fee to:

SUMMARY OF THE PROGRAM

1. COMPLETE APPLICATION – APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL CAREER

                                                                  LINK OR JOB CENTER, ANY LABORERS' LOCAL UNION OFFICE, THE

                                                                  LABORERS’ TRAINING CENTER IN SAXONBURG, PA, OR YOU CAN

                                                                  DOWNLOAD ONE FROM OUR WEBSITE.

2. SUBMIT APPLICATION – RETURN THE APPLICATION WITH THE NON-REFUNDABLE $25.00

                                                         PROCESSING FEE(NO PERSONAL CHECKS, PLEASE) TO THE ADDRESS

                                                         SHOWN ON THE FRONT SHEET OF THE APPLICATION.

3. TESTING DATE – YOU WILL THEN BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING OF A TESTING DATE. THIS IS A

                                           SELECTION TEST ADMINISTERED BY AN INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT.

                                           THE TESTING LOCATION IS AT THE LABORERS’ TRAINING CENTER IN

                                           SAXONBURG, PA. IF YOU DO NOT HEAR FROM US IMMEDIATELY UPON

                                           SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION, IT IS BECAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE A

                                           TESTING/INTERVIEW DATE SCHEDULED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. YOUR

                                           APPLICATION WILL REMAIN ON FILE UNTIL THE NEXT TESTING SESSION

                                           IS SCHEDULED BY THE COMMITTEE. IF YOU MOVE, PLEASE CALL OUR

                                           OFFICE WITH YOUR UPDATED ADDRESS.

4. INTERVIEW – AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN THE TEST, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED TO RETURN TO

                                   THE TRAINING CENTER IN SAXONBURG FOR AN INTERVIEW.

5. ORIENTATION/TRAINING – IF SELECTED, YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED TO ATTEND A

                                                                  MANDATORY TWO-WEEK ORIENTATION AND TRAINING

                                                                  SESSION, CONSISTING OF A COMBINATION OF SAFETY

                                                                  AWARENESS AND HANDS-ON TRAINING.

6. REGISTRATION – YOU WILL BE REGISTERED INTO THE PROGRAM ON THE FINAL DAY OF

                                            ORIENTATION AND TRAINING.

7. ASSIGNMENT ELIGIBILITY – UPON COMPLETION OF ORIENTATION AND TRAINING,

                                                                    YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ASSIGNMENT WITH BUILDING

                                                                    CONSTRUCTION OR HEAVY AND HIGHWAY SIGNATORY

                                                                    CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTORS.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to notify the Western PA. Construction Craft Laborers Apprenticeship Program regarding a change in address and/or telephone number.  This applies to the application process, testing, interviews, and orientation/training, if selected for the program.
